バイソン第2弾、大変お待たせいたしました。

イエローストーン国立公園のお話をしてからかなりの時間がたってしまいました。　It's a pretty long time since I talked about bisons in Yellowstone National Park.

今日は彼らがどんな役割を演じているのかお話ししたいと思います。　Today, I'd like to tell you the roles they are playing.

研究者たちは35年以上にわたってこの動物を調べています。 Reserchers have been studying these animals for more than 35 years.

まず、彼らはこの土地を長い長い柵を設けてバイソンのいる地域といない地域、2つに分割しました。　First, they divided the land into two areas by setting a long long fence, one having bisons, and the other without them.

この実験はとても興味深い結果を示してくれました。　This experiment showed us very interesting effects.

バイソンのいる地域では、植物の種類は2倍以上です。　The number of plants is more than double on their land.

彼らは土地を耕し、天然の肥料を与え、体に着いた種を遠くへと運びます。　They cultivate the land, give natural fertilizers and carry seeds stuck on their bodies far away.

植物が増えれば動物も増えます。　More plants creats more animals.

絶滅に瀕した一つの種を保護することで失われた土地は回復されて命に満ちた新しい生態系が生まれました。　By protecting an endangered species, new ecosystem full of lives has been built up again.
